He worked with Architect Hafeez Contractor and worked there for a couple of years, until he commencing Sanjay Puri Architects in 1992. Today Sanjay Puri is firm of over 70 people. The main topic of their design solutions are contextual and they creating spaces that revolutionize the way they are experienced form the essence of the practice's design philosophy.                                                       Sanjay Puri Architects  Nirvana 63

Artist research: Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe

Image
In today's lessons, we got acquainted with two artists who created as a couple in real life. Alfred Stieglitz was an American photographer (born in New Jersey, 1864-1946). He was this artist which decided to prove that photography is an art like painting or drawing. His photography was inspired by realism (art movement) and they showed normal life of those times, but they also had some hidden meanings. Good example of this will be his photography called "The Steerage", which is one of the most important photographs of the 20th century.                                                          Alfred Stieglitz  The Steerage This photography represent both realism and symbolism. It is a black and white photo, which artists shot in year 1907. This picture has many "layers". It symbolizes the great immigration movement of his era, showing...

Initial Researches

There are  many architects that I have thought of in connection with my project. The first and perhaps most famous is American architect-Frank Lloyd Wright. Already as a child I saw a photo of the building designed by this architect, where the house is in amazingly blended into the natural landscape in which it is located.                                                      Frank Lloyd Wright  Fallingwater     There are many interest architects, who inspiring me, where the buildings blending into the landscape. Here are a few examples:                                                                                     ...

Smart Outcome

For this project I will create six 2D outcomes of concept sketches and plans for a Family home set in a forest/hills location. The topic will be the connection between architecture and nature. This will be buildings that will fit into nature in such a way as to harmonize with it. The topic I chose is Earthly Delights, as it suits to my concept. I will create this six 2D drawing by week 8 in order to give myself the time to complete and finalize my work for my presentation on my Design Boards. I will hand draw the images and will use my digital skills in Photoshop and Sketch Up  which I am in the process of learning. learn in the first term to digitalize those drawings. I will include every step of development of my project to the blog, where I will include my research, development of concepts and my sketches. I will add my six 2D outcomes  to my website at the beginning of June.

Class Development

Image
This is my initial ideas development, by using one of three methods which we have to pick. I chose method two: Mountain & Valley, where I will draw an image of a mountain and valley. Then I will explore my ideas by adding writing, drawing or signs in to the mountains and valley graphic.

Ideas Generation: Martians have landed

I start thinking about architecture, which is my progressive route and the three themes that we have to choose from. From the start I liked the Earthly Delight theme the most, because I love the nature, just like the architecture, and I think that one needs to cooperate with the other. I enjoy watching the natural landscapes, the nature scenery, and I think that architecture needs to blend with the space where will be built. I am very inspired by the modern architecture of Eastern Europe, where the buildings are planned so that they do not destroy or change the space in which they are located. They are perfectly blended into scenery of forests, hills and fields. I would like to design a house that will harmonize with nature in such a way, a house where people would have a relationship with nature. A place of peace and rest, I think I would like to live in such a place myself.                               ...

First Thoughts

Image
Today we were introduced to our Project Set for this term, where we have to make six 2D outcomes in our continuation route. We must to choose one of the three themes listed, which are: Purple Haze, Earthly Delights or Expressionism.  I start thinking about my progressing route, which is architecture and those three themes that I mentioned earlier. I think about Earthly Delights theme for my Set Project, where I would like to design building which cooperate with the nature. My idea is to design timber house which will blending with the surrounding. My initial ideas about location is my country Poland. In south-eastern part of the country there is many beautiful landscapes, with forests and hills. This area ia called Bieszczady and it reminds me of Wales, with lots of lakes, forests and hills. I am thinking of designing a family house in a traditional shape for this area. However I will give it more modern features and shape.
