Materials research

I research for materials which I could use for my building. The main material will be reinforced concrete, and the walls, floors and roof will be made of it. Reinforced concrete (full name-Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete-SFRC), is a very strong composite material, durable and resistant for different elements. This composite is also suitable for my project due to the protruding parts of the building. This is also one of the most effective construction materials which requires little maintenance. Such a construction will also cope better with the proximity of water (the alkalinity of the concrete protects the steel rebar from corrosion). Finally, all concrete parts of the building will be covered with black panels.

The second important material will be windows. For this project, I designed expansive windows, which will create a bright and friendly atmosphere, providing fantastic views. This will be a triple glazing panels with argon gas between the layers for better protection against the Polish weather and elements, like wind or water. These glass panels will be blue and sun-reflecting. The glass panels will be covered the building all around, plus as the roof in the restaurant part.

Third most important material will be wood. For this project, I will used mainly softwood, which will be in the interior elements of a hotel. The doors in hotel rooms will be made of Cedar wood, which is the type of coniferous wood. It has redish colour and it is resistant to warping and cracking. For most of the furnitures inside the hotel will be used European Oak, which offer elegance and uniqueness. It is also very durable, and it can be polished to grand a great finish.
