Ten Potential Sketches

These are my initial sketches of the shape of the building. I was trying to find a minimalistic form, which will work well with the black surface of the exterior. My idea is to create a hotel with black as a theme for this term. For me, black colour in architecture is more like a modern colour for the building.

"Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication" ( Da Vinci). In the public space, minimalist forms never go unnoticed. They are usually large lumps that give you breath. I have an impression that people feel comfortable surrounded by such forms, because sometimes it is the only certainty in space. You can lean your eyes on them and feel that life is actually simpler and organized than you thought before.

Contemplation in the vicinity of such buildings happens automatically, and people can regain their spiritual balance.

Location-Port Praski

 I chose Port Praski ( Praski Harbour ) as the location for my building. During my visit to Liverpool I was fascinated by Albert Docks . When I started working on my final project, I linked my experience from visiting Albert Docks with Port Praski in Warsaw, which recently undergoing renovation of the whole site. It is a river port on the Vistula river in Warsaw, the Capital of Poland, in the Praga-North district. The port was built in the area of the Vistula river glacier valley and at the beginning (before the second world war) it was called the New Port. In the interwar period, three port basins were built. The port  was used for cargo loading and as a winter port. later the cargo handling functions were taken over by the Port Zeranski. Until 2012, there was a water station in the Port Praski, which was built in 1885, and it was then used as a floating marina for steam boats.  The port performed its function until 1963, when a new port Zeranski was put into use.
