Location-Port Praski

 I chose Port Praski (Praski Harbour) as the location for my building. During my visit to Liverpool I was fascinated by Albert Docks. When I started working on my final project, I linked my experience from visiting Albert Docks with Port Praski in Warsaw, which recently undergoing renovation of the whole site. It is a river port on the Vistula river in Warsaw, the Capital of Poland, in the Praga-North district.

The port was built in the area of the Vistula river glacier valley and at the beginning (before the second world war) it was called the New Port. In the interwar period, three port basins were built. The port  was used for cargo loading and as a winter port. later the cargo handling functions were taken over by the Port Zeranski. Until 2012, there was a water station in the Port Praski, which was built in 1885, and it was then used as a floating marina for steam boats. 

The port performed its function until 1963, when a new port Zeranski was put into use. After this period the place began to fall into ruin and became abandoned.

In recent years many port development plans have been prepared. Finally it is start to becoming a modern and elegant settlement in the center of the city.The development of the new concept will consist of four districts: Residental Stara Praga, Luxury docks with a marina, the business and commercial City, and the Medina Park.The whole complex will became a self-contained city within a city, with unique downtown area, river boulevards, floating restaurant, and landscaped park.

The first stages of construction have already started and first apartments are already built. There are still lots of building space as it is huge area, and whole investition is very expensive. The project is to change the face of the capital, adding a new look to the old port overlooking the river and the center of city.
