Odilion Redon Lecture Notes

 Odilion Redon (1840-19160) was a French symbolist artist, which was a painter, printmaker, draughtsman and pastelist. He worked almost exclusively in charcoal and lithography. Till today he is one of the most important and original symbolist artists. His visionary works concern the world of dreams, fantasy, and the imaginations. He first became famous for his Noirs series, which was monochromatic compositions, where the main and most important color was black. First half of his career, he worked almost exclusively in black and white. Later on he started working with a more colorful palette. His art became very bright, full of colors.
